Re-Twist
Once you start your locs, you may want to wait at least 1 month before a good wash. This is to try to establish the twists so that when the hair is washed, the twists will keep their form. Until then, we recommend using Dudley’s Skin and Scalp or Taliah Waajid’s Moisture Cleanz to clean the scalp and use a light oil on the scalp to reduce itching.
Palm Rolling
This is another way of twisting the locs, using the palms of the hands. The coils are placed in between the palms and rolled in one direction. This method is good because it brings any stray hairs into the lock that may be lingering around outside the coil.
Additional tips for caring for your locs Never put anything that contains wax or alcohol on the locs or scalp.
Sleep in a satin scarf or head wrap to keep cotton or lint out of your locs. Never use cotton materials to sleep in, it’ll weaken the locs.
Wash and retighten your hair by using one of the above methods at lease once a month, after your locs have developed a foundation or budding has taken place.
Spritz your locs daily with Taliah Waajid’s moisture glaze or Taliah Waajid’s Hair Bodifier Mist.
Add some essential oil or light oil. Use Dudley’s PCA leave-in-conditioner. This keeps locs from drying out and also helps in the locking process.
Drink plenty of water daily.
